In this project there are 12 partner countries. Every country will have in the end of the official selection a team formed by 4 professionals.

Romanian Film Sector is the creator and coordinator of the EAST EUROPEAN FILM ALLIANCE Consortium, which is composed by the following members:

The general long term target of EEFA ("East European Film Alliance") is to establish an East European Training Centre for those professionals who practice in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (those parts of the former Soviet Union).

The general short term objective is to improve the professionals’ approach of the film projects, through the hands on study of competitive practices and the identification of the most appropriate tools for the film projects’ processing.

The 2010 stage of the project consists in organizing four training sessions during the entire year for professionals from the film industry.

The EEFA Training Network program therefore will be developing all year long and has the following structure: four seminars (Russia, Armenia, Romania and Estonia), as well as an online platform for communication with the attendees and Wikipedia in the field.


The targets of theese training sessions are:

  • the comprehention of a viable film project elements in the East European film industry.
  • the development of good online comunication practices in a defined professional comunity and under the supervising of some experts in the field and as such in taking benefit of the experience of some West European experts.
  • The development of partnerships in the film marketing industry and the identification of the already existing platforms in Europe.
  • The disclosure and exchange of specific cultural products from the film industry between the EU member states and third states.
  • The transfer of "good practices" relating the film production and exploitation in the regional context.
  • The pursuit of building the East European network of professionals in the film field with the aim of an East European film market configuration.

EEFA Training Network 2010 is developed with the support of the EU’s Preparatory Action MEDIA International (a program which suports the expanding the two-way flow of cinematic works and strengthening cooperation between the audiovisual industries of EUMember States and third countries), FilmNewEurope website and MAQS Law Firm.

TrainEastFilm

Romanian Film Sector, member and International Consortium "TrainEastFilm" coordinator, organized at Tbilisi, Georgia, "Training for East European Film Professionals" workshop, between September, 20th-26th, 2009.

The project gathered experts from audio-visual and cinematography industry, with main three years experience, from all eight Consortium member countries: Romania, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Republic of Moldavia, Turkey and Letonia.

Training for "East European Film Professionals" was developed through seven working days and consisted in several workshops maintained by eight internationally experienced trainers. Each country participated with one team (2-5 people), consisting of professional components made up of producers, screen players, directors, and one other member team from another cinematography industry profession (distributors, legal etc).

Organizing this project, "TrainEastFilm" had as its purpose to create the necessary conditions for understanding the constitutive elements of a viable film project in the context of relevant East European industry as well as the work conditions, law and financial context, the coproduction and distribution mechanisms in a regional context. The general purpose on medium term is to create the bases of an East European network of professionals from the cinematography industry through the establishment of an East European film market and its absorption into the European market.
